Big cats, open plains and a night under Mara skies
Three days is the sweet spot for a first Mara safari. You arrive in time for an afternoon game drive, spend a full day exploring the reserve from sunrise to sunset, and drive back on the third morning after one last drive.
Our guides know where the resident lion prides hold territory and how to position for the best light. During migration season we track the herds daily and time river crossings as closely as conditions allow.
Accommodation is in a comfortable mid-range tented camp with en-suite bathrooms, hot water and full board meals. Luxury and budget options are available on request.
Early departure from Nakuru or Nairobi, travelling through the Rift Valley and the Loita plains. Arrive at camp in time for lunch, settle in, then head out for an afternoon game drive as the light softens and the cats become active. Return to camp at dusk for dinner.
A full day of game driving with a packed picnic lunch, covering the Musiara marsh, the Talek river area and the open plains where the big prides hold territory. During migration season we follow the herds and position for river crossings. Optional balloon safari at dawn.
A final early morning game drive when predator activity is at its highest, then back to camp for breakfast and checkout. Depart mid-morning for the drive back, arriving Nakuru or Nairobi late afternoon.
